The Municipality of Charlton and Dack belong to the Temiskaming Municipal Building Association (TMBA). The TMBA enforces the Ontario Building Code & Act which are regulations that are set in place by the Province of Ontario. Under the requirements of the Building Code Act, municipalities are responsible for the enforcement of the Act. The Building Code sets minimum standards, which ensures public safety and uniformity in the construction industry.

Other things to consider

• In addition to the building permit all construction  must comply with the Municipal Official Plan and Zoning.
• A residential unit must have septic approval from the Timiskaming Health Unit.
• Construction of any dwelling  on an unmaintained municipal road will not be permitted.
• Access to a provincial highway requires MTO approval.
